Website Localization Worked Well

I used Linguistica for website localization for my small business's e-commerce site. The setup process was pretty straightforward, I integrated the API and it started translating. I liked the collaborative editor; it made it easy to review and tweak some of the more nuanced phrases myself before publishing. The initial setup took about an hour. The translation accuracy for Spanish and French was generally very good, though I did find a couple of spots where I needed to adjust the wording, especially with some technical terms. Delivery of the localized content was essentially real-time once reviewed. Support responded to my initial integration question within a few hours. Overall, it definitely saved me a lot of time compared to manual translation.

Reliable for Document Translation

I've used Linguistica for document translation a few times now, mainly for business reports into Chinese and Portuguese. Each time, the process has been consistent. I just upload the document, select the languages, and it processes it fairly quickly. I appreciate the translation memory feature; it definitely helps maintain consistency across different documents, especially with recurring terminology. This order was no different. The quality was on par with previous experiences – good enough for internal use without needing extensive human review, which is why I keep coming back. Their platform is reliable, and I haven't had any hiccups with my orders.

Good for app translation

I just tried Linguistica for my mobile app translation project. It was pretty easy to get going, just connected their API. The translations for German and Japanese seemed decent. No major issues or anything. It felt pretty smooth, you know? Like, everything just worked as it should. Saved me some hassle for sure.

Decent, but support could be faster

I used Linguistica for some marketing content localization into Italian. The AI translation was surprisingly good for the price, especially for a yearly plan. It wasn't perfect, I still needed to go through and edit some of the more creative slogans, but it provided a solid base. The platform itself is fairly intuitive to navigate. My main gripe was with customer support; I had a question about integrating with a specific CMS, and it took about two days to get a detailed response. While the answer was helpful once I got it, the wait felt a bit long when I was trying to meet a deadline. Value is there, just wish support was a bit quicker.

Thinking about Linguistica vs. Smartling for our enterprise needs. Anyone have experience comparing the two? Which one is smoother for big teams?

K Kevin 1 month ago
I've used both. Linguistica feels a bit more modern and developer-friendly with its API focus. Smartling has been around longer and is very robust, but sometimes feels a bit clunkier. Depends on your tech stack and how much customization you need.

For huge enterprise stuff with lots of custom workflows, Smartling might have an edge in certain areas, but Linguistica's collaborative editor and workflow tools are really good for team management. I think Linguistica has better real-time translation features too.

How does Linguistica handle different languages, especially right-to-left ones like Arabic or Hebrew? Does it mess up the layout?

S Steve F. 1 month ago
They do support RTL languages. I haven't personally used it for those, but I've seen it mentioned in their docs. It should handle the layout correctly.

My team translates into Arabic with it, and so far no issues with the layout on our website. It seems to manage the RTL direction fine.

Can you actually cancel your subscription anytime, or are you locked in if you go monthly?

G Gwen G. 1 month ago
Yeah, you can cancel monthly subscriptions whenever. If you're on an annual plan, you're obviously committed for the year, but the monthly ones are flexible.

I cancelled a monthly subscription once, it was straightforward. No drama.

Thinking of signing up, but wondering about the pricing. Is it like a monthly subscription for everything, or do they charge per word translated or something?

W Wendy 4 weeks ago
It's mostly subscription-based for access to the platform and features, but there are definitely usage-based components, especially for API calls and higher volumes. You kinda need to get a quote sometimes.

They have different tiers. We're on an annual plan and that gives us a certain amount of stuff. Overages cost extra, but it's clear what you're paying for. Not per word exactly, more like per usage block.

hey, anyone used Linguistica for like, a full website localization? Is it actually good or just another AI tool that sounds better than it is?

M Marcus 4 weeks ago
We used it for our e-commerce site last year. The automated part is pretty solid for a first pass, saves a ton of time. Still needed human review for marketing stuff, but that's kinda expected with any AI.

yeah, the website localization is decent. not perfect, but way faster than hiring individual translators for everything. especially for less critical pages.

Does Linguistica offer a free trial? Don't wanna commit if it's not gonna work for our specific content.

G Greg 1 month ago
Yep, they do a free trial. I think it's 14 days, gives you enough time to kick the tires and see if it fits.

B Beth 1 month ago
Yeah, confirmed. I used the trial before signing up. Pretty standard stuff, no credit card required upfront which is nice.

I'm a startup founder, any chance of getting some developer credits or a discount for a small team starting out?

S Sarah Y. 1 month ago
Yeah, they have a startup program! Worth checking out. Might get you some developer credits or a special rate while you're getting off the ground.

S Steve S. 1 month ago
Definitely reach out to them. They're usually pretty keen on helping out startups, so there's a good chance for some kind of discount or support.

Is there any way to get a discount on Linguistica? Like a promo code or something, or is it just the annual plan thing?

J Jared R. 1 month ago
Public promo codes are super rare, almost non-existent. Your best bet for a discount is definitely going with an annual plan; they usually give like 15-25% off that way.

J Julia Reyes 1 month ago
I got a good deal by committing to a yearly plan, that's pretty much their main discount method. Sometimes they have seasonal sales around Black Friday too, but those are limited.
